Middle school isn’t just TikTok and eye-rolls, Snapchat and crazy hair. Emersyn – a sixth grade student from Iowa – already has a heart for giving!

When Emersyn’s family sponsored Djennie Jean-Louis, she learned the struggles that children in Haiti face on a daily basis. Seeing these challenges, Emersyn decided to go above & beyond for her sponsored student!

Emersyn has worked alongside her mom in the kitchen since she was a little girl, learning to make delicious pies. Fruit pies, chocolate pies and banana cream pies – all with a homemade crust!

Her parents have also taught her well how to steward the resources God has given her through Dave Ramsey’s plan for spending, saving and giving.

Emersyn decided to combine her talent of pie-making with her heart for giving by selling homemade pies. She then went above and beyond with the money she earned by giving it to Djennie!

“It made me feel really good to be able to help,” Emersyn said of giving to Djennie, who was able to purchase needed items in the market with the extra donation.

Emersyn also thought it was “pretty cool” to see what Djennie picked as a gift with the money she gave. Djennie selected new shoes, a new dress, hair accessories and some food for her family.

Emersyn wants others to know that there are, “lots of families that could use extra help” and she would be so happy to see other students at Djennie’s school also find a sponsor.

A special thank you to Emersyn and her family for going above & beyond to bless Djennie with an education and a special gift.

Meet some students in need of sponsorship from Djennie’s school!
