Seven students are learning a new vocation this year at the Robin’s Nest Sewing Center!
In just a year these young women have learned so many skills. They started by learning hand stitches like hemming, basting and backstitching. They then moved onto fabric handling and how to prepare fabric for sewing. Then they started learning how to use a sewing machine and mastered skills like straight stitch, zigzag and overlock. Today they are learning to sew articles of clothing from beginning to end!

School Uniforms: Learning how to sew in Haiti is a valuable trade. All students in preschool through high school wear custom-sewn uniforms in Haiti. Each school has their own fabric and style of uniform based upon grade level. These uniforms keep a seamstress busy for months leading up to the opening of the new school year!

Special Occasions: The most fashionable in Haiti wear custom-made suits and dresses for special occasions. Weddings, holidays, special church services and even kindergarten graduation are perfect occasions for special clothing.

A special thanks to our Cornerstone Club members for giving each month to support programs in Haiti like the Robin’s Nest Sewing School! This wouldn’t be possible without your ongoing generosity.
