Each month, the WWV Pastors Coalition gathers together on a Zoom call with American pastors to encourage one another and be reminded that they are not serving alone. The pastors study God’s Word, pray for one another, share a snack, laugh, and celebrate the ways they have seen God at work. These simple times of connection have become a meaningful source of refreshment for pastors who carry tremendous responsibilities in their churches and communities.
Ministry in Haiti is not easy. Pastors serve in the midst of gang violence and insecurity, extreme poverty, hunger, and a lack of basic resources. Many pastors carry far more than the traditional responsibilities of church ministry.
They may also oversee schools, care for vulnerable children, help families in crisis, or work other jobs to provide for their own families. On top of these challenges, they are seeking to faithfully share the Gospel in communities where illiteracy, limited theological resources, and deeply rooted cultural and spiritual practices can make ministry especially challenging. These pastors need encouragement, too!
That is why these monthly calls matter. They provide a place where pastors can take a breath, open God’s Word, share what they are experiencing, and pray together. Sometimes the greatest gift is simply knowing that someone else understands.
We are grateful for the opportunity to come alongside these faithful men of God and pray that each monthly gathering leaves them refreshed, encouraged, and strengthened to continue the work God has called them to do.
