Honoring My Parents’ Legacy Through Education

I am Pastor Jean Martin Etienne, born in the mountains of Abricots, Grand’Anse, Haiti. My parents, Delouis and Clervane, could not read or write, yet they believed so deeply in the power of education that they sacrificed everything to send all of their children to school. At just 5 years old, I became the first in my region to attend school. Later, God opened doors for me to study in the United States and serve countless people across Haiti and beyond.

Sadly, my parents passed away before I could express my gratitude in a meaningful way. But their legacy of sacrifice and commitment to education continues to inspire me. To honor them, I have launched FUNDECLED — the Funds Delouis Clervane for Education. This fund will support children from disadvantaged families by covering tuition, school supplies, uniforms, and shoes — everything they need to succeed in school.

My father once opened his chicken coop so children could have a place to learn during the summer. That spirit of giving lives on in this mission. With your help, FUNDECLED will open doors of opportunity for children who, like me, come from humble beginnings but have limitless potential.

Will you join me in carrying forward my parents’ dream? Together, we can honor their legacy and transform lives through the gift of education.
