When you choose to sponsor a student, you never know the ripple effects that will continue years into the future.
Evilson grew up in the mountains above Williamson. His mother and father farmed the land and Evilson attended primary school. Evilson loved school, but tragedy struck when his father unexpectedly passed away, leaving Evilson uncertain about his future.
“My father passed away when I was in 5th grade. After my father passed away, I didn’t think I would make it all the way to graduation.”
With no secondary schools in the mountains, Evilson was forced to make the difficult decision of moving away from home to continue in school or staying in the mountains to farm with his mother. His love for learning compelled him to move into town and pursue his education.
Because his mother’s small job farming the land didn’t earn enough to provide for Evilson’s school needs, plus food and housing in town, Evilson was welcomed into the World Wide Village Sponsorship Program. It was life-changing! A budding entrepreneur, Evilson also took sewing classes at the WWV Sewing Center while he attended high school so he could work to afford food and housing.

Today, Evilson is in his second year of university in Saint-Marc, Haiti studying pre-med. He is pursuing his dream to become a doctor someday. Evilson continues to sew clothing to earn a living on the side and we are so proud of his accomplishments!
Last month, tragedy struck Evilson’s family. His sister who lives in the mountains unexpectedly passed away. It was devastating for the family and left his nephew an orphan.
Evilson was heartbroken for his nephew, understanding the pain of losing a parent and facing an uncertain future.

Because Evilson recognizes how God has blessed him through World Wide Village, he plans to do the same for his nephew. Evilson’s nephew will soon move in to Evilson’s house so he can continue school this fall.
What a beautiful ripple effect as one act of kindness leads to another!
