The saying in Haiti – little by little, the bird makes its nest – is a great reminder that small, faithful acts repeated over time can lead to something truly extraordinary. Month after month, gift after gift, our sponsors have been creating lasting hope in Haiti! Meet three of our graduates who are planning to take the next step into college and vocational school!
Ismael Leonard, known by the nickname “Bisosa,” is a friendly and quiet young man with an inspiring story of resilience. After losing both of his parents several years ago, he depended upon his older brother and sister. Although his brother works in fishing to support the family, his income was not enough to cover the costs of secondary school. Through sponsorship, Ismael was able to remain in school and graduate second in his class! Now he hopes to continue his education in vocational school studying plumbing and tile laying.
Darline Coreolan is an intelligent and hardworking young woman who has never stopped believing in the value of education. Raised by her godmother, Darline has been able to attend school despite limited resources. However, by her senior year, the worsening economic conditions in Haiti made it nearly impossible for her godmother to afford tuition and Darline faced the heartbreaking possibility of leaving school. Thanks to sponsorship, she was able to graduate first in her class at Sainte-Maria School! Now, she hopes to continue her education in computer science.
Widnel Saintilient is a kind and thoughtful young man who also faced the possibility of dropping out of school before senior year. He lives with his mom, dad and sister and has grown up facing the daily challenges of poverty. Despite these obstacles, Widnel has remained focused on his goal of graduating from high school. Sponsorship provided the assistance his family needed to keep him in school during this critical final year. Graduating top of his class at Robertica School, he now he plans to study mechanical engineering in college!
AGAPE VICTORY CHURCH:
At Agape Victory Church in Bail-Savanette, Haiti, students gathered with joyful hearts for Youth Bible Club, where they learned about God’s love, enjoyed time with friends, and shared a nourishing meal together.
To make the day even more special, each child received a bag of fresh popcorn to take home. This is a simple treat that brought big smiles and a reminder that they are loved and cared for. Moments like these are helping children grow in both faith and hope while building a strong Christian community.
