GANG VIOLENCE:
In September, the security firm of former U.S. Navy Seal Erik Prince deployed nearly 200 personnel from various countries to Haiti as part of a one-year deal with the Haitian government to quell gang violence there. The deployment by Vectus Global is meant to help the government of Haiti recover territory now controlled by heavily armed gangs.
As Vectus Global recovers territory in Port-au-Prince, these heavily armed gangs have moved north into our region, bringing fear and uncertainty with them. For weeks, local police—standing shoulder to shoulder with community vigilantes—have worked tirelessly through tense nights marked by gunfire to protect their neighbors.
Roads to the north and south were blocked, leaving trucks and buses stranded and causing fuel shortages and rising food prices as supplies were running low. Even so, schools largely remained open, with only a couple of days canceled when the danger intensified, a quiet testament to the resilience of families determined to keep life moving forward.
We praise God that the police have been able to hold the gang back, reopen the road and ease some of the pressure on the people. Yet there have been continued reports of gunfire overnight this week. The emotional toll of living under constant stress is heavy.
Please continue to pray for our Haitian friends—for peace, protection, and endurance. In the midst of hardship, we are grateful for the ways you are bringing light to the darkness as you help students continue their education, provide a safe place for new babies to be born, and so much more.
SEWING SCHOOL:
The Robin’s Nest Sewing School gives young women in Haiti a path toward a meaningful vocation. As they learn to sew and tailor clothing, students discover their creativity and take pride in making trendy clothes that their neighbors love to wear.
We are so grateful for the donors who make this sewing school possible! These hands-on skills are opening real opportunities for these young women to earn an income, help support their families, and step into the future with confidence and independence.
For their most recent project, each girl sewed four different styles of dress modeled here by the students!
EDUCATION:
This week, classrooms are filled with focus and excitement as students take their final exams in the days leading up to Christmas break—working hard to show all they’ve learned while looking forward to a well-earned rest and celebration. Each test, lesson, and school day is a reminder of the precious gift of education and the promise it holds for these children and their communities.
In rural Haiti, it is a true blessing for children to have the opportunity to attend school as many families cannot afford school fees and children are forced to stay home and miss precious years of learning.
A special thanks to our amazing sponsors for giving each month to allow your precious student to attend school. It’s the best gift a child could ask for!
CLEAN WATER:
This solar-powered well built years ago continues to be a priceless gift to the community of Luly. Because of this well, families have safe water for cooking and daily needs—reducing illness and easing the burden of long walks to other water sources.
We are deeply thankful for everyone who helped build this well and invested in the community of Luly! Your generosity has created a lasting source of fresh water that continues to bless lives every single day.
Written on the well house are the words of Jesus from John 7:37 – “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.”
Today, lift up the people of Haiti and ask God to satisfy every thirsty soul. Ask God to pour out His strength where there is weariness, His hope where there is despair, and His peace where there is fear. Pray that all who are thirsty—physically and spiritually—would come to Jesus and drink deeply of His grace.
