SANT SANTE ESPWA:
The BBC wrote a recent report from a hospital in Haiti that spoke to the bleak reality in this country:
“The first cries of Baby Woodley, just one day old, were the same as those of children born anywhere: for food and for comfort. But as most children born there, he will grow up to find that such essentials are far from guaranteed in Haiti. The essential things of life – food, water, and safe shelter – are increasingly hard to find for millions in Haiti.”
The newest baby born at Sant Sante Espwa last week did not choose where to be born, yet he will grow up facing the many challenges that come with living in Haiti.
But praise God, he will not face these challenge alone. Thank you for standing with children and families in Haiti!
EDUCATION:
Families in our area of Haiti remain cautiously optimistic as schools open their doors for the new year. It is only thanks to you that so many students are able to head back to the classroom. Because violence has disrupted everyday life, many parents are not working and struggle to provide even one meal per day for their families. Having the chance to attend school and receive school lunches is a tremendous help!
Your generosity has given children the opportunity to have joy and laughter alongside classmates and teachers in school. It is not easy to live in a country facing such hardships, but your support is an immense blessing in the midst of it all.
THE GOSPEL:
The church plant in Bail, Haiti – Eglise de la Victoire Agapé de Bail – celebrated its one year anniversary on Sunday! God has been moving in this small church in utterly amazing ways. Read more about the one year anniversary service, the most recent baptism service and how God is at work!
EMERGENCY NEEDS:
As families return to our area of Haiti after having fled gang violence, our staff is working hard to meet the many needs in the community. Emergency food packs, rent assistance, and microgrants to help get families back in business are the top priorities.
A special thanks to everyone who donated in November and December for emergency needs. You are providing for families who are living through unimaginable hardships. We are grateful.
