Join us in praying for the people and country of Haiti each week. Ask God to intervene on behalf of a country facing uncertainty, violence and turmoil. As Haiti continues to struggle, pray that God would do what might look impossible – bring peace and justice. Bondye kapab – God is able!

LEADERS LIKE NEHEMIAH

Today we pray for God to build up leaders in Haiti like Nehemiah in the Bible. Pray for an end to corruption and for God to establish godly leaders. Just as Nehemiah rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem, we pray that God would bring leaders to rebuild Haiti on a strong foundation.

God tells us to pray for our enemies. Today, pray for gang members in Haiti to encounter Jesus. Pray for their hearts to be transformed in mighty ways like Saul of Tarsus who became the apostle Paul.

PERFECT PEACE

Those living in Haiti right now are experiencing fear as they look to the future and hopelessness as they often see no way past the turmoil. Ask God to help His people in Haiti keep their minds fixed on Jesus as they seek peace in the midst of suffering.

SAFETY

As the Kenyan police have moved into Port-au-Prince, gangs in those areas are being pushed out. While necessary to quell the violence, some of the gang activity has made its way further outside Port-au-Prince. As gangs have moved north and east, communities in our region fear for the future. Please pray for continued safety for our staff, students, and all those in the communities in which we serve.

THOSE WHO MOURN

Today we are mourning with the mother of a 1-week-old baby who recently passed away. It was a heartbreaking loss for the mother, older sister, and our Haitian staff who have invested in this family through the sponsorship program and microgrant program. Please pray for this mother as she mourns the loss of her baby. Pray also for our Haitian staff as they “weep with those who weep” and show God’s love to a family in mourning.

ANSWERED PRAYER!

Join us in thanking God today for new life – both physically and spiritually! While the gang violence continues to wreak havoc, we have asked God to use that devastation to draw people to Himself. He has answered that prayer over and over with so many stories! One story of NEW LIFE this week with a healthy baby born after his father was taken by gangs. Another story of a young mom being BORN AGAIN and accepting Christ at a recent crusade. Praise God today for answered prayer!

FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Many in Haiti are physically hungry. Even more are also spiritually hungry, not recognizing their need for God and His Word. Pray today that many would put their faith in Christ for the first time as they hear God’s Word preached and see God’s Word lived out. Ask God to also strengthen the faith of believers in Haiti as they continue to hear God’s message of hope.

NOURISHMENT

Many in Haiti are hungry – both physically and spiritually. Today, pray for God to provide nourishment for both body and soul for our Haitian friends. Praise God for the new church plant in Bail, Haiti that is growing and seeing many come to Christ. Ask God to continue to bless the leaders of this growing church plant as they provide nourishment through God’s Word and through physical meals.

PHILO STUDENTS

Students in their final year of high school will take their national exams next week. Only 30% of students in Haiti complete high school, so taking these exams is an honor. As seniors in our sponsorship program head into their national exams, ask God to renew their minds and strengthen their spirits. Ask God to help them persevere with their eyes fixed on Him.

BASIC NEEDS

Due to violence and gang checkpoints across Haiti, food, fuel and other necessities continue to be in short supply. What is available to purchase is very expensive and those families who live day-to-day are especially vulnerable. Please pray for God to meet the needs of those who are suffering in Haiti. Praise God that He cares for His people in every nation.

9TH GRADE STUDENTS

Please lift up 9th grade students in Haiti as they head into national exams next week. It can be a stressful season as they prepare for exams that will determine if they are eligible to continue into high school. All exams will be taken on computers for the first time this year, adding an extra level of difficulty. Please pray especially for the students in our sponsorship program. Ask God to ease their anxieties, knowing the Lord is near.

GOD’S PROTECTION

It seems that the metaphorical “mighty waters” across Haiti’s land are rising quickly and threatening to consume its cities and people. We ask for God’s hand of protection to be on men, women, and children in Haiti during these days of unrest. LITTLE CHILDREN

Pray that children in Haiti would regularly hear of God’s love for them. Ask God to place people in their lives to share that love – in church, in their families, in the WWV schools. Pray for children to be protected from darkness and to make the decision to follow Christ at an early age.

WORK AND VOCATION

Right now in Haiti, more than 2/3 of the workforce do not have formal jobs. Many struggle to find work and provide food for their families. Today, ask God to provide for those who cannot provide for themselves. Ask God to direct the World Wide Village microgrant program as we seek to empower many in Haiti with new vocations. Pray that God will pave the way for this program as it works with Haitian families to use their skills and talents to earn a living. We know that work is an important part of the purpose for which God created us!

PRAYER FOR STUDENTS:

As students begin their fourth quarter of school, many are growing weary. It is becoming increasingly difficult to carry the daily burdens of living in Haiti where many are struggling with poverty. For those students who are believers, ask God to give them rest as they seek to follow Jesus. For those who do not yet follow Jesus, ask God to show them the rest that He offers to weary souls.

SEEK PEACE

Gang violence in Haiti and the evil it exposes are a terrible reminder that the world is not as it should be. Today, ask God to help the people of Haiti seek peace where they live and seek to overcome evil with good. Ask God to end this violence in Haiti in His perfect timing.

PRAYER FOR HEALING

There have been many reports of illness coming from our staff in Haiti over the last several weeks. One neighborhood in Luly lost two children to unknown causes and many families now worry for the health of their own children. Please ask God to heal those who are sick and heal the brokenhearted who have lost a child.

DEEP ROOTS

As new believers put their faith in Christ in the midst of tremendous struggles in Haiti, ask God to help them build deep roots in His Word. Pray that they would be strengthened in their faith, overflow with thankfulness and hold fast to the truth of the gospel.

ANSWERED PRAYER

Over the last two years we have been asking God to use the devastation and violence in Haiti for His good. God is answering that prayer in mighty ways! What the gang members intended for evil in forcing many to flee, God has used for good in drawing many people to Himself. A Haitian pastor forced to flee Port-au-Prince planted a new church in the mountains and over 50 have come to Christ in less than four months! God is also drawing more people even more closer to Himself as they seek strength and peace. Praise God today that He is continuing to work in Haiti in such powerful ways.

New government leaders have been appointed in Haiti. Ask God to give them His wisdom and integrity as they lead Haiti through this difficult and unprecedented time. May their actions bring change that will allow the Haitian people to live peaceful and godly lives.

Countless men, women and children continue to flee their homes due to gang violence. Ask God today to protect those who are fleeing.

The people of Haiti are growing weary. Every area of life is an ongoing struggle. Today, praise God that He created the heavens and the earth and never grows weary. Ask God to give His people a fresh hope as they follow Him and to renew their strength day by day.

YOUTH IN BIBLE CLUBS

As children and teens in Luly gather at Youth Bible Clubs, pray that God would use His Word to touch their lives. We know that God’s Word does not return empty, but God uses it to accomplish His purposes. Pray that youth in Luly will be transformed by the Word of God!

Today, please lift up children in Haiti who are mourning the loss of a parent due to gang violence, illness, or accident. Pray especially for the Grand-Pierre children who recently lost their mother to a devastating illness in Luly, Haiti. Now orphans, ask God to give them comfort and to meet their needs. JUSTICE AND RIGHTEOUSNESS

Lord, as Isaiah proclaimed over Israel, we also pray for Haiti. You are exalted and dwell on high. We ask that You fill Haiti with justice and righteousness and bring stability. “Madan Sara” is a term in Haiti for a woman who works tirelessly to buy, distribute, and sell food and other essentials in markets throughout Haiti. These women raise their children, serve in their local churches, and manage their small businesses. “Lord, I ask you today to fill these women in Haiti with faith and resolve to continue moving forward. Give them patience and endurance to stay the course, despite the many obstacles they face.”

One of our Haitian staff members recently said, “I really love Haiti. I want to live here, but I want to live here in safety. Please pray for God to provide Haiti with a good government.”

Ask God today to raise up godly leaders for Haiti. Pray for leaders who are good, wise, righteous and just. Call on God to build up men and women who will defend the cause of the poor, widow and fatherless. Ask God to bring those people to positions of power and influence in Haiti.

SCHOOL DIRECTORS IN HAITI

Please lift up school directors in Haiti as they face difficult decisions, day after day. In our area, the directors at the Brazil School and Williamson School were forced to relocate their schools due to violence in Williamson. The directors also deal with the harsh reality that many children cannot afford school tuition, but teachers need to earn a living. Pray that the school directors will seek God as they lead their schools. Ask God to give them wisdom.

GOOD TO OVERCOME EVIL

Today, please pray for good to overcome evil in Haiti. Ask God to keep His eyes on those in Haiti who seek Him, delivering them out of their troubles. Pray urgently for safety for our staff, pastors, teachers and students as there has been a resurgence of gang violence in our area of Haiti.

PROTECTION AGAINST EVIL

Evil is such a harsh word, and yet God’s Word uses it frequently to describe the opposite of good. While we are all capable of sin, ask God today for protection for our Haitian friends against those who call good evil, and evil good. Guard children and families from those who scheme against righteousness and from those who twist truth into lies to accomplish their evil intents.
