It has been a very productive two weeks in Haiti so far this year. A team from Minnesota headed to Haiti right after the first of the year to make considerable progress on a few of the construction projects that needed completion. Here are a few highlights!

Medical Center:

Work continues to complete our World Wide Village Medical Center in Williamson, Haiti! The outside is plastered and ready for painting and the inside is in the process of being plastered. The framing for a porch with a thatched roof was added to the front of the medical center to protect patients from the sun and rain. It is such a treat to see it coming together and to see patients being seen on a regular basis as a part of our hypertension program. We are working hard to get even more folks enrolled in this program!

Our work on the culvert near the clinic is nearing completion. This week several gabions (heavy duty large wire mesh baskets filled with rocks to form a retaining wall) were added to the upstream and downstream walls near the road to protect the banks from eroding during heavy rains. We were blessed to have Jim – an experienced heavy equipment operator – join us for his first trip to Haiti to do some of the heavy lifting and earth moving. To watch the Haitians and Americans work together to make this dream a reality is amazing!

“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 15:5-6

Team members from City View Electric of Minneapolis also joined WWV in January to install electrical outlets and lights in the medical center. A special thanks to this team for donating their time and supplies and sharing their expertise to bless the people of Haiti!

Well House:

On the Sewing Center property a new well was dug to serve the community last fall. This week a small building was built to house the necessary equipment to pump water and serve as the distribution area. This well will be such a blessing to so many people in Williamson, Haiti!

Guesthouse:

Enjoy a fun view of the new World Wide Village guesthouse in Williamson. Many new memories are already being made in this wonderful house that is filled with praise, prayers and laughter.  Come visit Haiti for a week with World Wide Village on a short-term Impact Trip! Learn, encourage and engage with the people of Haiti. You won’t regret it!  www.worldwidevillage.org/teams.

Vacation Bible School:

Three young adults from Minnesota developed and held a Vacation Bible School program for children at three of the World Wide Village schools – Williamson school, Armee du Salut school and the Luly school. The day included a lesson on the creation story, a sing along in English and Creole, a craft, and of course game time. There were double the number of children expected at Armee du Salut – the newly supported World Wide Village School. Thanks to so many wonderful student sponsors this school is starting to thrive! There are still children waiting for sponsorship at this school. For $32 per month you can change the life of a child: www.worldwidevillage.org/student-sponsorships
